Lunatic Reporting

For those who don't follow the indispensible LGF, some really crazy MSM reporting is happening about these "protests" in Uzbekistan in which hundreds of Islamists have been killed by government forces.

For example, the curious CBS headline was "U.S. Ally Fires on its Own People."

What an odd formulation.

Or in this article, the cognitize dissonance of the AP writer is incredible, with bizarre juxtapositions within single sentences.

The piece begins

ANDIJAN, Uzbekistan - An estimated 500 bodies have been laid out in a school in the eastern Uzbek city where troops fired on a crowd of protesters

Oh my goodness! How horrible! How nasty of our "ally", how nasty of us, by extension!

It goes on to attempt to build sympathy for the peaceful "demonstrators" and "protesters", just exercising what should be their rights, and scared by the horrible government:

Thousands of terrified Uzbeks trying to flee into Kyrgyzstan burned a government building Saturday and attacked border guards, a second day of violence triggered by a brazen jail break to free accused Islamic militants

Oh, but they're not too scared to go around attacking things, are they? Maybe they're an armed insurrection, breaking out Islamists from jail?

In Friday's standoff, Karimov claimed the government had offered the demonstrators free passage out of the city in buses with their weapons, seized in attacks on a police station and military outpost.

Odd for "demonstrators" to be going around with weapons, no?

Oh, finally we get the "rest of the story":

The Uzbek unrest began late Thursday night when protesters freed as many as 2,000 prisoners, including the 23 members of the Akramia Islamic group on trial on charges of being members of a group allied with the outlawed radical Islamic party Hizb-ut-Tahrir. It seeks to create a worldwide Islamic state and has been forced underground throughout most of Central Asia and Russia.

Karimov's hardline secular regime has a long history of repressing Muslims who worship outside state-approved mosques.

Notice the last gratuitous dig at the government, as they try to gloss over that bit about "worldwide Islamic state", which would include us in it, you know.

Thank goodness SOMEBODY'S repressing them!

It's moronic and suicidal for the media to write like this.

In the first country to legalise homosexual marriage, gays are increasingly fearful of holding hands in public. Some have been chased out of their houses and middle-class gays are moving to rural areas for safety.

Make NO MISTAKE: unassimilated Muslim invaders will destroy everything they can.
