Funnyman

Who knew islamists had a sense of humor?
British Muslims criticise media for anti-terror reporting
LONDON (AFP) - Muslim leaders in the British city of Birmingham rounded on the media after nine men were arrested in anti-terror raids on suspicion of an "Iraq-style" plot to kidnap and behead a Muslim soldier [for fighting for the infidel].
...
Imran Waheed, from the Islamist Hizb ut-Tahrir party, added: "The brothers who have been arrested are innocent until such event a just conviction is secured. At the moment, we have sensationalist reporting and trial by media."

Moazzam Begg, a British former Guantanamo Bay detainee, was also angry at the media coverage.

"I hope that when the truth manifests itself that, metaphorically, heads will roll with the people who put out these stories in the first place," he told the audience.
Ha ha, heads will roll.

A real funnyman, that Moazzam Begg.

Maybe he ought to be sent back indefinitely to gitmo:
Life harsher in new Guantanamo unit

...prisoners complain their days are now filled with "infinite tedium and loneliness," said Sabin Willett, an attorney for the men, in an affidavit filed in a Washington court.

Wells Dixon, who also represents Uighurs held at Guantanamo, predicted the lack of human interaction in Camp 6 will cause detainees to lose their grip on reality.

"It will very soon become an insane asylum," he told The Associated Press in a phone interview after he returned from the base in January.

Camp 6 houses about 160 men — more than a third of the total at Guantanamo — and is similar to the highest-security U.S. prisons, even though no one at the prison has been convicted.

"I firmly believe that the detainee population that we have right now is literally still at war with us," said Army Col. Wade Dennis, the detention center warden. "We have to be constantly vigilant."
This constant repetition of lack of "charges" or "convictions" has to be stopped.

Even regular prisoners of war never received "charges", or "convictions", or had access to lawyers.

Thus the notion that illegal combatants, like pirates and terrorists, who aren't parties to the Geneva conventions, would get them, is pernicious, ludicrous, and dangerous nonsense.

They are to be squeezed for information, have their status reviewed by a military tribunal, and then executed.
